Hollow Section Suppliers in Surrey
Square, rectangular and circular hollow sections, cut to length and delivered across Surrey. In a county where a great deal of the steel ends up visible in a finished room, the clean closed profile matters as much as the structural behaviour.

What we supply
| Section | Range | Sizes |
|---|---|---|
| Circular (CHS) | 21.3mm to 273mm diameter | 48 |
| Rectangular (RHS) | 50 x 25mm to 400 x 200mm | 54 |
| Square (SHS) | 20 x 20mm to 400 x 400mm | 68 |
Standard mill lengths run to 7.6m on the lighter sizes and 10.1m on the heavier ones, and we cut to your dimensions rather than supplying stock lengths. Full dimensions and weights are on the hollow sections page.
What it is used for
Surrey work is overwhelmingly domestic and much of the steel stays visible once the job is finished. A 100mm square column holding the corner of an open-plan kitchen, the frame of a glazed link between house and garden room, balustrade and balcony structure on a first-floor terrace: all hollow section, chosen because a slim closed profile looks deliberate where a beam looks industrial. Garden rooms and studios across Weybridge, Esher and Woking use the lighter sizes almost exclusively. Pool buildings raise the same corrosion question the coast does elsewhere, and galvanising is the usual answer.
The thing worth getting right
The thing to get right is wall thickness. Two sections of identical outside dimensions can differ by a factor of three in weight and capacity depending on wall, and because the outside is what you see, the difference is invisible once it is installed. Specify the wall as well as the size on anything structural.
Delivery across Surrey
We deliver direct to site across Surrey, including Farnham, Epsom, Redhill, Guildford, Dorking, Woking, Godalming, Walton-on-Thames, Ewell, Esher, Camberley, Leatherhead, Weybridge, Egham, Staines and Reigate. Surrey work skews domestic and high-value: basements, large extensions and remodelling of substantial houses, much of it on tight sites.
Surrey is the most access-constrained of the three. The commuter belt between Esher, Weybridge and Walton-on-Thames is dense, heavily parked, and full of properties set back behind narrow approaches, and conservation-area restrictions are common around Guildford, Godalming and Dorking. Long lengths and mechanical offload need planning here more often than not.
HIAB lorry crane offload is available on request. If the approach is tight, tell us at quote stage rather than on the day and we will plan the delivery around it.

Common questions
What is the difference between SHS, RHS and CHS?
Square, rectangular and circular hollow section. All three are closed tubes, and the shape decides both how the member behaves structurally and, on anything left exposed, how it looks in the finished room. Your engineer specifies which, along with the wall thickness.
Can you cut hollow sections to length?
Yes, and we supply cut to your dimensions, so nothing turns up as a standard mill length needing trimming in the middle of a site.
Do you supply them ready to weld or galvanised?
Both can be arranged. Fabrication happens before galvanising, and the vent and drain holes a closed section needs have to be agreed before either starts, so tell us the whole sequence when you enquire.
Is hollow section stronger than a universal beam?
Neither is simply stronger. A hollow section resists twisting far better and looks cleaner left exposed, while a universal beam carries more bending for the same weight per metre, so which one suits comes down to what the member is actually being asked to do.
