Hollow Section Suppliers in Kent
Square, rectangular and circular hollow sections, cut to length and delivered across Kent. They are the sections that do the jobs a beam is wrong for: resisting torsion, standing on show, and framing the light industrial buildings the county is full of.

What we supply
| Section | Range | Sizes |
|---|---|---|
| Circular (CHS) | 21.3mm to 273mm diameter | 48 |
| Rectangular (RHS) | 50 x 25mm to 400 x 200mm | 54 |
| Square (SHS) | 20 x 20mm to 400 x 400mm | 68 |
Standard mill lengths run to 7.6m on the lighter sizes and 10.1m on the heavier ones, and we cut to your dimensions rather than supplying stock lengths. Full dimensions and weights are on the hollow sections page.
What it is used for
Kent’s logistics and port-adjacent buildings absorb a great deal of rectangular section as cladding rails, door framing and canopy structures, particularly around Dartford, Gravesend and the Medway towns. The conversion work pulls the other way. Oast houses, barns and older industrial buildings around Canterbury and Maidstone are frequently opened up with the steel left on show, and a square hollow section reads far better in those buildings than a flanged beam. Smaller sizes go into gates, railings and garden structures throughout the county.
The thing worth getting right
The thing to get right is wall thickness. Two sections of identical outside dimensions can differ by a factor of three in weight and capacity depending on wall, and because the outside is what you see, the difference is invisible once it is installed. Specify the wall as well as the size on anything structural.
Delivery across Kent
We deliver direct to site across Kent, including Ashford, Canterbury, Dover, Maidstone, Margate, Gillingham, Dartford, Chatham, Rochester, Tunbridge Wells, Gravesend, Folkestone and Ramsgate. Kent carries a lot of logistics and port-adjacent work alongside heavy domestic conversion in the Medway towns and the west of the county.
The M20 and M2 make most of Kent quick to reach, and the Medway towns and Ashford are easy enough for long lengths. Canterbury and Tunbridge Wells are the awkward ones, with narrow historic streets and restrictions that catch people out on a first delivery. Coastal sites at Margate, Ramsgate and Folkestone are usually fine but worth confirming.
HIAB lorry crane offload is available on request. If the approach is tight, tell us at quote stage rather than on the day and we will plan the delivery around it.

Common questions
What is the difference between SHS, RHS and CHS?
Square, rectangular and circular hollow section. All three are closed tubes, and the shape decides both how the member behaves structurally and, on anything left exposed, how it looks in the finished room. Your engineer specifies which, along with the wall thickness.
Can you cut hollow sections to length?
Yes, and we supply cut to your dimensions, so nothing turns up as a standard mill length needing trimming in the middle of a site.
Do you supply them ready to weld or galvanised?
Both can be arranged. Fabrication happens before galvanising, and the vent and drain holes a closed section needs have to be agreed before either starts, so tell us the whole sequence when you enquire.
Is hollow section stronger than a universal beam?
Neither is simply stronger. A hollow section resists twisting far better and looks cleaner left exposed, while a universal beam carries more bending for the same weight per metre, so which one suits comes down to what the member is actually being asked to do.
